Vehicles extended our range of activities and it's true that they are not only tools but friends.Proper maintenance and repair could keep them in good condition, and it's going to need a wide number of auto parts & accessories.EDIT: So I didn't see a tis2000 disk included in my bundle. The local Saab dealer here that is left wants 5/hour, one hour min for Tech 2..it'd pay for it in 3 visits....Sean Wow, so with the hacked software there is no need for a connection to GM for programming things like keys etc? In my case, I can enter the cluster display and change it. But a Tech2 is probably the best investment long term..... Logan Diagnostic LLC could always run an LS1 PCM on your FW. Then you can work with a real PCMI have been thinking of doing such a thing. If I were to sell my tech2 and candi module and replace it with the MDI and current software would I loose the ability to work with pre 96 vehicles? :( No FDC, limited troubleshooting on the CCM I might look for one if one is good price.... So to some extent, you do have access to trouble codes etc. You may want to think about this before your opti-spark dies again. can we use the TECH2 to adjust the FAN Setting in the Northstar. Currently I mainly work on 2002 and earlier GM vehicles and the tech 2 has been invaluble. The best Tech 1a cartridge was the dealership 'mass storage' one.
This is where the Vetronix Tech 2 (Tech2, Tech II) comes into its own!
I ordered it on a tuesday and i picked it up at fed ex friday (i missed the fed ex guy and you have to sign for it). i went to add aux mode and it said i needed to get security access. Where do i get this security thing download from and do i need house plug? I have been wanting to order one but I was afraid it wouldn't work properly. Thanks for taking the plunge and sharing the experience. Wow, so with the hacked software there is no need for a connection to GM for programming things like keys etc?
which i need the house charger to power the tech 2. i will report back once i attempt the security access part. I need to program a few things, and one trip to the local shop would pay for about 1/3 of it. I was thinking about it, but for now my local garage is providing great service to reasonable cost, including Tech2 work at no or low cost. I mean, for less then 0 to have one fully up and running is great.
I can also turn on/off the right mirror tilt on back up. And when I do a LS1 swap (Probably a 5.3L or a 6.0L LQ4 tweaked for really high compression....) I will need it then anyway....
Examples: It can turn on/off fuel injectors for testing, enable EGR valves, enable trans solenoids, etc. Mine currently shows '2001 Cadillac DTS' on start up. I am planning a 0411 PCM swap on my 99 K2500 Burb 454, so it would be ideal to do it on the Cad too. can we use the TECH2 to adjust the FAN Setting in the Northstar. Or would I be better served keeping the tech2 for the pre 96 vehicles and then investing in the MDI and software subscription for working on the vehicles that the tech2 does not support?
